The common and easy formula to calculate the dilution is-

Here,
- C1 = 10
- C2 = 0.5
- V2 = 1000 (suppose 1 liter)
- V1 = ?
10 X V1 = 0.5 X 1000
or, V1 = (0.5 X 1000) / 10
or, V1 = 50
So, we need to take 50 ml from the 10X stock buffer and dilute with 950 ml SDW
